Industry and multi-console news
- A few trailers for games I'm excited about: Brutal Legend, Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age, Scribbenauts, Uncharted 2,
- A Marvel executive stated that they're not going to be doing "crappy movie-based games anymore." After the pleasant surprise that was the Wolverine game, I can't say I'm complaining.
- Much of the team at Endrant Studios that worked on Wolfenstein (released TODAY) has been laid off.
- Capcom's Dark Void is going to be released on January 12th, kicking off a surprisingly busy 1st quarter.
- Crytek says that the current generation of systems will last until at least 2012.
- EA had a few announcements today:
- EA Sports Active More Workouts announced for Wii
- Bad Company 2 release date in early March, Dante's Inferno release date in Februrary
- Brutal Legend is getting a demo on September 17th
- Video Games Live will be playing a show at GDC China.
PC and mobile news
- Creative Assembly announced Napoleon: Total War for release next February.
- Silent Hunter 5 was announced, releasing early next year.
Nintendo news
- All quiet on the Nintendo front today.
Sony news
- PS3 Firmware 3.0 revealed, the battery indicator has finally been fixed!
- And the worst kept secret of the games industry, the PS3 Slim, has finally been revealed. It includes a 120gb harddrive and the standard features of the current models out there (no backwards compatibility). Launches in September for $299.
- An FCC listing also indicates that a 250gb one might be in the works, as well.
- Sony announced their PSP Minis series, a line of small (under 100mb) downloadable games for the system. They also revealed a digital comics program for the PSP.
- Singstar is going to be integrated in with Playstation Home, somehow.
- Housemarque, the team behind Super Stardust HD, revealed their next game: a twin stick shooter titled 'Dead Nation'.
- LittleBigPlanet PSP has no multiplayer, but is supposedly a complete package beyond that omission.
- A water based pack is coming as LittleBigPlanet DLC.
- This Invisimals trailer is trying way too hard.
Microsoft news
- Fable 3 is coming in late 2010.
- And Fable 2 is going to be cut up and released over Xbox Live in episodic chunks. The first part will be free, then there will be a couple purchasing options, but no prices have been announced.
- A Lost Planet 2 demo should hit sometime Wednesday.
- Chromehounds' servers are being shut down in January. So many memories.
