Industry and multi-console news
- Go buy Jonathan Coulton's new CD/DVD. At least download it. Pay money if you feel like it so he keeps making more awesome stuff.
- The hilariously awful boxart for Dead Space: Extraction was revealed, prompting Joystiq to photoshop the screaming face into the picture for every article today.
- The Chinese "ban on gold farming" is not so much a ban on gold farming as it is banning using in-game currency to buy real items or gamble. That's kind of the inverse of the gold farming problem.
- GameIndustry has an interview with Sega Europe's managing director Gary Dunn. He really likes the new motion controllers.
- Woo hoo! If you live in Europe, DJ Hero costs about $50 more than in America, coming in at £108.
- Eidos's president says that everyone should bring their 'A' game or expect commercial failure.
- Though not exactly gaming news, The Pirate Bay was bought out and will be transformed into a more legal P2P service somehow. Isn't everyone even halfway intelligent on private trackers now anyway?
- New registered "Hero" titles, but these ones are registered by the Fitness Company and are titled things like Fitness Hero.
- Fun Fact: Suda51 really REALLY likes Burnout Paradise.
- Rumor-town: There was a Wii version planned for Brutal Legend, but it's been scrapped.
PC and mobile news
- Ether Saga, a super adorable and incredibly generic Asian MMO, is now online and free to play.
- Blizzard has been filing a number of trademarks for the word "Cataclysm", which looks to be some kind of code name for Battle.NET 2.
- Blizzard also thinks that one should build games for the hardcore gamer, as accessibility can be added later in the design process.
- ...and as expected a SERIOUS ONLINE PETITION demanding that LAN play be added in Starcraft 2 has been started.
- The tech trees for Starcraft 2 have been released.
- AlienWare is now offering a very slick looking "gamer monitor".
- Someone already hacked together a PS1 emulator for the Palm Pre.
Nintendo news
- The top ten most played games on the Wii up to now. I'm actually kind of surprised to see two Harvest Moon titles on there (Rune Factory is Harvest Moon don't try to trick me).
- A new Final Fantasy game is coming to the DS, sounds awfully familiar to FF1 except with teenagers.
Sony news
- Another Uncharted 2 multiplayer demo is in development.
- Here's a list of Capcom PS1 and PSP games that will soon be out for download on the PSN.
Microsoft news
- If your Xbox red-ringed with the E74 error, you should have received a refund check in the mail by now f you were previously charged for it.
- A slew of information came out today about the case of private patent holders vs Microsoft over who invented Xbox Live.
- The super kid-friendly game making software Kodu is now available on Xbox Live.
- The awesome strategy game Band of Bugs is getting avatar support and a new expansion priced at 240msp/$3.
- A truck in Canada was raided of 1,300 Xbox 360s.
